This is a continuing debate mainly concerned with the source of embryonic stem cells. The core of the debate centres on the discussion of when life begins and the ethics of destroying human embryos. Amongst the many aspects of this debate are the controversies surrounding the researchers themselves and whether they are complicit in the destruction of embryos. Other considerations have centred on the ethics of doomed embryos resulting from IVF treatment and on the ethics of using Human Embryonic Stem Cells in research and cell based therapy.
